This list is simply a step in the right direction, and will help you remember which appointments you should make every year, to stay in the best possible health!

#1 your primary care provider/therapist/family doctor

Many of us have had our family doctors for our entire lives. They’re with us through the hard times, through illness, and good health. Our primary care providers can refer us to specialists, provide basic and relevant health information, and be a shoulder to lean on for general medical advice. You should be making an appointment with your primary care provider for a checkup and physical every single year, if not more often. Yearly preventative health screenings have saved many lives, and help us stay on top of issues should they arise.

#2 Eye doctor/ophthalmologist

Going to the eye doctor isn’t just about changing your eyeglasses prescription. Your eye doctor can diagnose a whole host of diseases and medical ailments. Of course, your vision should absolutely be a top priority — but the eye doctor can and should be a yearly or biannual appointment to ensure your eyes are healthy.

#3 Gynecologist/urologist

By the time a woman is 21 years old, but likely before, she should regularly be seeing a gynecologist. An annual pap smear, breakfast exam, and pelvic exam are absolutely essential for staying on top of your health. These exams, although they can be uncomfortable, will allow you to spot growths and abnormalities, as well as receive cancer screenings.
