Stage 1A Melanoma Warrior

I was diagnosed with stage 1A melanoma on my left cheek in August 2021, one day before my 31st birthday. Shortly after, I had a wide local excision and two facial reconstructions. I also was being checked for ocular melanoma on the moles in my eye, for which I was cleared negative but have to be checked every 6 months for changes. I am a survivor but my life is forever changed by melanoma. Even after surgery or treatment, the healing process is far from over. I share my story as a reminder to get regular skin checks, skip tanning beds, and wear SPF every day, year round.
